Custom Menus for Wheelhouse's On Farm Dinner at Brookfield Farm

We're feeling those fall vibes and think it's about time we show you the work we've done for our friends at Wheelhouse. You're gonna hear about them in the next few posts because we've been lucky enough to do a couple rounds of custom work with them AND because they catered Kate's wedding! For now, we'll start at the beginning with our menu contribution to their On Farm Dinner.

Wheelhouse is a farm-based caterer and food truck in Amherst, Massachusetts committed to increasing access to sustainably grown produce.

Each year Wheelhouse hosts dinners on the farms where the food was grown. At these events guests hear directly from the farmers about the food growing process, from Wheelhouse chefs about their inspiration for the menu, and most importantly, get to enjoy eating the bounty of the harvest.

We excitedly attended their Feast in the Fields at Brookfield Farm last October, the farm from which Kate has a CSA share, and had the privilege of designing a menu for the evening. We kept the design simple, modern, and fresh:

But the food really stole the show. The Apple cider beignets were out of this world! Here are some of our favorite shots from the evening:

Stay tuned for more of our custom work with Wheelhouse and our eventual post about Kate's wedding!

Until the next note,

Calling Cards for Katherine Hysmith

On one stormy stormy day in the winter of 2015, January 27th to be exact, our world collided with Katherine Hysmith's. The ladies behind Tell New England encouraged Bostonites to share how they juno'ed on Instagram (East Coasters, you remember Juno??) and both our photo and Katherine's photo were shared in their roundup.

A friendship with Katherine developed from there. How could it not? She is an academic who takes stunning pictures of the delicious food that she cooks.

Here are a couple photos from her account to wet your palette.

Fast forward to today and we recently had the honor of designing her calling cards.

Katherine was hoping for business cards which she and her friends affectionately call "academic calling cards" since they serve a couple purposes, being both informative of our academic and freelance/work information. She liked our clean crisp style and was inspired by our little note cards. She thought that line element could be incorporated on the back of the cards because at her conferences, people are always jotting down notes on people's cards anyways, so why not provide a place for it.

We drew on the following visual inspiration ::

And ended up with this beautiful final product ::

Thank you Katherine for the opportunity to bring this idea to life!

Wedding Suite for L.A. Artists

Did you know that we do custom work???

Yep that's right and if you've never taken a look, we recommend taking a spin through our portfolio section. Everything we design is fully customized, made from scratch, to perfectly match the individual's or couple's wishes.

Last winter we had the pleasure of working with two L.A. artists on their wedding suite. It was their hope to create both an elegant and tactile suite.

Per the bride's request we drew inspiration from our definition cards, specifically our Cozy card. The bride lovedd the type face, the circle element, and the quality of the soft cotton paper.

With their budget in mind we decided to only letterpress print the main invitation. The RSVP card, additional information insert, and the rehearsal dinner invite were digitally printed on a thick card stock. The color palette of the inserts was inspired by the bride's paintings.

Of the colors we pulled, the bride was drawn to the gray and persimmon, keeping the tone of the invite elegant.

Thank you to our L.A. artists for letting us share in your special day!

From the bride:

I can't believe how beautiful they look in real life!! The quality of the paper, the size, the font, everything comes together so elegantly and they feel personal at the same time. I can't be more proud to put these in the mail and invite people to the wedding! I feel like it sets the tone for the wedding and lets all of guests know how much we care about this event. And also what classy, cool style we have! You seriously made us look so good and are helping us kicking off this whole wedding with so much grace and class and warmth. I'm so grateful and I love them so much.

love,

Jules (& Joel)
